Where Does My Steak Come From?
Ever wonder just what part of the cow your favorite comes from? This chart show where the cuts come from and how much is available from a single animal.
When you place your order with Shepherds Ranch Grass Fed Angus Beef, you may specify particular cuts or choose from one our packages. We maintain a small herd and orders need to be accumulated to ensure that we do not over harvest our animals. Your order will normally take about 3 weeks to be filled.
Once we recieve enough orders to harvest an animal, it is taken to a local, independant, USDA processing facility. The beef is then "dry aged" for two weeks before cutting. This further improves the tenderness and taste of our beef. The beef is then cut to your order and vacuum packed. The first thing you will notice is the color of your beef. The beef may have a slightly darker color that you are used to. This is because we do not add any artificial colors or inject the meat with gasses to provide that grocery store "bright red" color.
Your order is then shipped to you in a refrigerated package that contains gel-ice packs. If you have any additional questions about your order, or need some more information, please don't hesitate to ask and we will get an answer to your quickly.

How Much Should I Order?
Since we do not accumulate a large inventory, we have packages that range from about 8 pounds to about 40 pounds.
